Ethan 3 years old

Oh our little 3 year old Ethan.  This is insane to me that you are THREE.  I so remember carrying you home the day after you were born.

3 is a HARD age.  I must admit that so far it is my least favorite stage in your sweet life.  I know things will get better, but you are testing us big time!  The listening is bad.  Really bad.  You are so so stubborn.  Even your teachers say how strong willed and determined you are.  You spend lots of time in time out. :(

But you are equally sweet.  You make us laugh so hard it hurts.  The things you say in your cute little voice are the best.

Height: 40 1/4" (3 feet 4.3") 95.69%
Weight: 40 pounds 97.27%
BMI 85% (5-84% is normal)-yikes!

You say words almost perfectly with the exception of a few like:
bakset=basket
snapbed truck=flatbed truck
excabator=excavator
granona bar=granola bar

You sleep about 10 to 10 1/2 hours a night. One of us will leave your room around 7:30 and we tell you to go to bed (via the 2 way voice video monitor) around 8pm. Sometimes you talk, sing, play or read until 8:30/9. I got a clip on reading light a while back and you love to read with it. We are trying to find the balance of letting you read as much as you want and getting good sleep. At 8ish we tell you to turn off the light and go to bed. 95% of the time, you turn it off and lay down.

The night routine usually consists of bath at 6:45/7, books until 7:30 and a little prayer and songs. Lately we've been making puppet animals on the wall using your night light. We pretend a dinosaur is going to eat you and you squeal.

We always pray before dinner and you shut your eyes SO tight and put your hands together. It's presh!

You eat well (obviously). You eat most of all of your meals and usually want a 'surprise' after dinner. Daddy usually gets a little treat and makes you close your eyes real tight and puts it in front of you and has you open your eyes. You love it!

You wear a pull-up at night and during naps at home. You wear underwear during naps at school and throughout the day. Accidents are very hit or miss. Some days you'll come home with 3 soiled outfits and other days you are in the same clothes you were sent in. I'm hoping this trend continues!

You know all of your colors and we're working on them in spanish (they do spanish at school)

You can count to 20 with no problem and we're working on going higher than that.

You love your "Chasey" so much.  You love making him smile and he smiles SO big for you!  We say that when Chase is bigger he can play with you and will be your best friend.  Every time he hears me say "Chase, you're such a big boy", Ethan asks if he's big now.

Your best friend is Alex. You guys are almost too good of friends. I actually think you are codependent on him because if Alex gets picked up early from his nanny, and we're later, you're usually waiting for one of us to come. And then there was today...when you BIT Alex in the back of his arm. We had to come and get you from school today because you were just not listening and were really upset. You knew you were in trouble. We've never had to come and pick you up from school before. Stinker!

Preschool dropoffs are getting much better but it isn't perfect. You are doing a cute thing right now when we leave your room at night, when you and dad leave for school in the morning and when dad drops you off. You yell "I love you" over and over back and forth with us until we're so far from each other that you can't hear. It's so sweet!

You are VERY challenging, but VERY cute. It is fun to see your little personality coming through. We are starting to get little glimpses of what you will be like as a big kid. We love you SO much Ethan James!
