Our 1st Anniversary Trip

As I mentioned, we headed out on a whim to Catalina Island. We had a wonderful stay at The Aurora. We drove to Newport Beach to take the 9am ferry across (about an hour and a half). We arrived and waked to our hotel...luckily the room was available.

We sat down our stuff and headed out "to town". The "town" was VERY small and within an hour, you've seen it all. The shopping is so so, as its all 'trinkety' things, but the restaurants are a plenty! Our 1st stop was to Coney Island West for some artery plugging burgers and chili cheese fries (the diet was OFF for the next 48 hours).

After that...a nice nap and some more town strolling! Later that night we had dinner a Villa Portofino for a delicious Italian dinner. After that we rented a movie, but never ended up watching it, because we went and checked out probably the most happening place that night...Luau Larry's! We had a few cocktails and called it a night!

The next day we slept in and checked out of our hotel. We left our luggage at the front desk and got some breakfast at the Busy Bee Cafe. Yum! The rest of the day was spent renting a golf cart and going into the hills of Avalon for a breathtaking view of the ocean (there are very few cars on the island...almost everyone drives a golf cart to get around). We then stopped for some ice cream and walked around a bit more. The weather on Saturday was quite chilly and overcast, but Sunday was gorgeous!

We caught the 4:30pm ferry back to Newport and that was our great quick trip to Catalina! It is such a fun getaway because you actually feel like you are away, but don't have to deal with the traveling hastles of flying or driving long distances! We'll definitely go back...summer time for sure!!!

As mentioned earlier, we rented the Canon Rebel XTi. This was a fabulous camera and we will definitely be looking into it to buy. Most of the pictures were taken with it (except the ones at dinner at Villa Portofino and Luau Larry's).
